Honoring Tradition with the Longhorn Legacy: A Tribute to Nico and Our Local Hunter Valley Farming Community

At Aramac Western, we believe in the deep connection between land, animals, and the people who care for them. Our roots run deep in the Australian outback, and nothing embodies this better than our Longhorn Legacy—a heartfelt tribute to our beloved longhorn, Nico, who passed earlier this year. Nico wasn’t just a symbol for our brand, he was a living testament to the enduring relationship between humans and animals in the Australian farming tradition.

Remembering Nico: The Heart of the Longhorn Legacy

Nico, with his striking longhorns and unmistakable presence, has been at the heart of Aramac Western since the beginning. His image graced our products, and his spirit has always embodied the rugged resilience we aim to capture in our clothing. As a gentle giant, Nico was an integral part of the farm, inspiring our designs and representing the pride we take in the land and the animals we work with.

While Nico may no longer be with us, his legacy continues to shape everything we do. To honor his memory, we’ve created the Longhorn Legacy initiative—an ongoing effort to support and celebrate the hard work of local farmers and the animals that sustain our livelihoods.

The Longhorn Legacy: Supporting Local Farmers and Show Cattle

We’re excited to announce that through the Longhorn Legacy, Aramac Western is now sponsoring our local and former Upper Hunter Young Woman of the Year Mikayla, who is parading her finest show cattle at this year’s Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza 2024. Held annually in Scone, NSW, this event brings together some of the best cattle breeders in the region, showcasing the exceptional quality of beef cattle in the Upper Hunter.

This sponsorship represents more than just support—it’s our way of giving back to the community that has shaped us. The Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of local farmers, and we’re proud to be a part of it.

The Beef Bonanza itself is a celebration of rural life, offering an opportunity for farmers and breeders to connect, compete, and show off the incredible quality of their livestock. From junior handlers to experienced cattlemen and women, the event showcases the best in cattle breeding and care, reflecting the values we hold dear at Aramac Western.

Why the Longhorn Legacy Matters

The Longhorn Legacy isn’t just about preserving Nico’s memory; it’s about building lasting relationships between the people, animals, and land that make the Hunter Valley such a special place. Through our sponsorship, we’re not only helping farmers exhibit their cattle, but we’re also supporting sustainable and respectful farming practices that benefit the whole community.

We believe that a positive relationship with our working animals is at the core of successful farming. The Longhorn Legacy seeks to elevate this relationship, emphasizing compassion, respect, and care for the animals that make our work possible.

Join Us in Celebrating the Longhorn Legacy

This weekend the 25th to 27th October 2024, we invite you to join us at the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza, where you’ll have the chance to witness firsthand the incredible skill and dedication of local farmers. Aramac Western will be there, supporting our sponsored farmer as she competes with her finest cattle in the show ring, proudly continuing the Longhorn Legacy.

Keep an eye on our social media for updates throughout the event, and if you’re attending, be sure to stop by and say hello! We’ll also be showcasing some of our latest products from the Cobar and Tambo collections, inspired by the same rugged resilience that Nico embodied.
