Aramac Western at the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza '24: Supporting Young Farmers and Building Community
Over the weekend of October 25th to the 27th 2024, our Aramac Western family headed out to the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza in Scone. It was a special event for us as we had the privilege of cheering on Mikayla Croft, a dedicated young farmer and our sponsored representative. Mikayla is no stranger to hard work or recognition, holding the title of former Upper Hunter Woman of the Year. Representing Scone Grammar School, Mikayla showcased two of her beautiful cattle, August and Rosebud, in the ring.
The highlight of our day was watching Mikayla compete in the parades on Sunday. With August, she placed an impressive third, narrowly missing out on a spot in the final round but doing herself and her school proud. It was heartwarming to see so many young people from local schools all across Australia involved, stepping up to represent their communities and showcase their passion for the industry.
Beyond the competitions, Mikayla gave us some insights into the animals she’d brought along, including Rosebud, who’s currently expected to calve mid-2025. For us at Aramac Western, these details about cattle breeding and the cycle of farm life highlights the dedication required of young farmers like Mikayla. Her work with August and Rosebud shows her commitment to both animal welfare and the continued growth of her skills in cattle rearing.
Our children loved the atmosphere and the chance to watch Mikayla in action, sparking plenty of questions and excitement for the world of farming and community events. Days like these are a great reminder of why we founded Aramac Western: to support local farmers, celebrate the hardworking young leaders in our region, and strengthen our connection to the community.
In the end, the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza 2024 left us inspired. We’re incredibly proud to support young people like Mikayla, who put in the work day in and day out to keep our rural heritage alive and thriving. For us, Aramac Western is more than just a brand—it’s a way to give back to the people and communities that make the Hunter Valley so special.
